Fifth edition's motto is "Recoding for the real world".
VJ Fest Istanbul is an independent visual arts festival. The festival has hosted fifty eight video artists from different parts of the world since 2008. On 12-16 June 2012, more than twenty multimedia, video and street artists will be joining. This year’s goal is to bring some light and color to public spaces. There will also be workshops and seminars on new media technologies at KozaVisual Association. VJ Fest performances will happen at Hazzo Pulo Pasaj, Tarlabasi, İstikal Street and saturday party at Peyote.
More than 40 audiovisual artists are joining the festival from Austria, Andorra, Bulgaria, Bosna-Herzogevina, Germany, Holland, Latvia, Mexico, Spain and Turkey.
Video artists are Agotha, Dogon, Emiko, Girasomnis, Granda, Guana-bana, Sinsynplus, Quirin Empl, Lynx de Luxe, Herr Schoder, LWZ, .mrt, Mr. Zula, Mythones, Vj-m, Vjunk, Vidbeat, Woei. Graffiti artists are Maarten Berkers, Johan Manschot.
Musicians are violinist Alishya, vocal Enzo Ikah, Surya Project, Siyasiyabend, Ssbunderground, Percussions Emre Kocabas, Deli Murat, Hakan. Besides festival is open to all the street musicians during the festival. Festival’s dance party Djs are Bessumi, Duniq, Nadr, Evrenstein, Meric Bros.
On 12 and 13th June, Mayer+Empl will make video projection mapping onto the old building inside Hazzo Pulo Pasaj. It is an architecture space intervention. an art form that uses the architecture, shape and conditions of the place to project moving images, light or graphics on abstract surfaces, and thus creating an entirely new atmospheric space. It is on Istiklal No:116 at 21.00-01.00.
On 14th June, festival will do activities at Tarlabası where empty houses are waiting to be crashed. We will use the space for audiovisual art. Local bands Siyasiyabend, Ssbunderground will play upon live visuals and mapping through the walls and windows. Address is Tarlabasi Cad. Sakızagacı Sok. Activities will start during the day with some exhibitions. Music&visuals will start after dark and hopefully stay till midnight.
With the collaboration of Street Art Istanbul and Dutch Consulate, we will make a graffiti onto the consulate’s wall for the 400th anniversary of diplomacy between Turkey and Holland. It is on İstiklal Street, Postacilar Sok.

VJ Fest’in bu seneki amacı sokağa da biraz ışık ve renk taşımak. İstiklal ve Tarlabaşı’nda graffiti, video yansıtma, mapping, etkileşimli video ve canlı akustik müzik... Almanya, Andora, Avusturya, Bosna-Hersek, Bulgaristan, Hollanda, İspanya, Kongo, Litvanya, Meksika, Polonya ve İstanbul’dan yirmiden fazla sanatçının canlı video-müzik performanslarını izlemeye gelin, eğlenelim!
